We are a unique retail store located in Kansas City. In our shop we make one-of-a-kind garments from vintage Japanese kimono fabrics, contemporary artisanal fabrics from Japan and other luxurious textiles.

We also have a carefully chosen selection of scarves, shawls and jewelry as well as an exceptional collection of antique and modern objects, mostly from Japan. 

Our goal — and greatest pleasure — is to apply our opinionated and practiced eyes to whatever we can find and present our discoveries to our fans.

Since opening our doors in 1977, our core values of curiosity, creativity and connoisseurship have remained the same. And we have applied these values to a wide variety of merchandise. We travel annually to Japan and elsewhere looking for inspiration and beautiful things to offer our customers. Our fans appreciate our taste and style.

HOW IT'S MADE

Our clothing is known for its beautiful fabrics, fine workmanship and timelessly chic style.

Our use of vintage Japanese kimono fabrics - sourced one-by-one by us in Japan - allows you the privilege of wearing a completely unique garment.

For every one-of-a-kind piece we make, the vintage garment is documented, meticulously disassembled, and carefully hand-inspected before the construction process begins. More often than not, there is only enough fabric for one new Asiatica garment from each vintage kimono or textile.

In addition to our one-of-a-kind garments made from vintage Japanese textiles, we also offer pieces made from contemporary Japanese fabrics, like those from Nuno in Tokyo, and other luxurious and specialty fabrics from around the world.

We buy these fabrics in limited quantities. Therefore, these garments are available in alternate sizes or colors and can be purchased according to your preferences. Contact us to inquire about a special order at asiatica@asiaticakc.com.
